The idea was to compose something in the jazz fusion style to complement the work we had already been doing on the genre in class &#8211; though I&#8217;d say the finished result is only Jazz fusion <em>inspired<\/em>. We started by figuring out some chords, settling on C11, Bm11, and Aaad9 to work with primarily, and added melodies on top through improvisation and consolidation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final piece has a structure of ABA\u2019B, in the form of A- an intro section, calm, with only root notes and minimal chords, B- the main part of the composition, it itself is split into three smaller sections where rhythm and chord changes are present. Then A\u2019 is in this case, the same form as A but with individual and group improvisations added on top, this version of A is also more extended than the intro, and then we circle back to B, identical to the first time around, if not for a steady crescendo near the end, to give a climactic conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wouldn&#8217;t call what we created jazz fusion exactly. It definitely has fusion elements like prolonged improvisation&nbsp; and use of electric instruments such as keyboard, but I feel that for the most part, our melody was too conventional and wasn\u2019t adventurous enough with atonality and rhythm to be safely called jazz fusion. Others may not share that opinion though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the name of the piece, it sprouted simply because of one of us asking what we should call our composition, and after short deliberation with no conclusion someone said \u201cit\u2019s alright, we\u2019ll find out later\u201d.
