“London-based producer Ryan Lee West, aka Rival Consoles, has been acclaimed for more than fifteen years for the human, organic and atmospheric sounds he conjures up from his synthesizers and effects pedals. Since his first EPs in the 2000s, the Erased Tapes musician has fascinated listeners with his unique blend of ambient, shoegaze, minimal techno and cinematic synths. At the opening concert of Abrupt Festival, Rival Consoles will present his latest album, Landscape from Memory(2025). On his ninth LP, he carefully stitches together old audio fragments and unfolds simple melodies into poignant tracks. ‘There is a kind of strange beauty to it because it involves the past, present and future in a very strong way,’ says Rival Consoles.” [from the BOZAR website]
